BIRS TERMINAL has the largest contiguous premises of any company in the Rhine port area of Basel. Facilities offered to our customers include, among others:

  • A covered handling area reaching out over the Rhine, enabling barges to be loaded/unloaded regardless of the weather.

  • Two 700-metre rail sidings, partly covered, for block trains.
  • Various overhead cranes with lifting capacity of up to 72 tonnes.
  • Modern handling equipment and conveyor systems with additional equipment for handling sensitive goods.
  • Electronic scales for railway wagons and lorries.

The terminal is ideally situated in the three-countries region of Switzerland, Germany and France, on the southeastern edge of the city of Basel on the Rhine. It has excellent transport links, with direct rail connections to the Basel SBB Eurohub marshalling yard and motorway access to the A2/E35 (north-south) and A3/E60 (east-west).
